Being a leader...

There are definitely a lot of ways to describe being a leader. A way that I am in the process of learning is staying calm when everything seems to be crashing in around your head. Even when everyone else is panicking; you can't. You have to be able to stay grounded, know that it will all be okay, and take the pressure off of your team. You can't get mad. You can't let the way that other people react affect what you will do. You have to make a concious desicion about the way that you are going to approach what is happening, and take it on. You have to be proactive, and act in character with who you know that you are. Sometimes people will let you down; just make sure that you aren't that person. If someone is royally messing up- I'm sure that they are fully aware. All that you can do is be supportive and let them know that it's okay to mess up sometimes. Give them some room to grow, and expect them to. You'll probably be the one needing some room to grow next time around. If something completely and utterly flops despite your every effort to save it, then move on. The sun will come out tomorrow, and life will go on. You have to be able to get past bad days, poorly concieved ideas, embarrassment, and disappointment. Dwelling on the past will only make you depressed, and negatively affect whatever heads your way next. Leaders have to pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and show that they are more than their mistakes. Being a leader means keeping the right perspective, and being constant.
