Top 10 Reasons YOU Should Join FBLA

I am a member of the Pima High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America, and I am lovin' it! This post is focusing on why YOU should join! It's also a celebration of everything that I have gained from being apart of this marvelous club throughout my high school career.
Why in the world would I be encouraging you to join a club that's all about business? You might be thinking, "Callie, aren't there so many other clubs that I could be joining?". Well, FBLA is special, because business is what drives everything! It all comes back to business.
Why Join FBLA?
1. Sets You Apart
Some of you may be applying for college, scholarships, or a job. FBLA will set you apart from the competition. I guarantee that eight out of 10 applicants will include a sports club- or something just as average- on thier list of accomplishments. FBLA is an unusual and interesting activity that will make future employers take a second glance.
2. Real World Experience
Your participation in regional conferences and state competition will provide you with valuable experiences that you can take with you into your education and your career. FBLA will offer you first-hand the chance to see the business world. There are so many valuable skills that you will learn; no matter what career path you end up taking.
3. Meet New People
FBLA has the best people involved in it! You will have the chance to meet some of these people at workshops, conferences, and in your high school business classes. You will be able to communicate with them and be inspired by them. I have met some of my best friends at FBLA conferences. Most of the people that I meet at FBLA events are driven by goals and dreams that are similar to my own.
4. Travel
FBLA will offer you so many opportunities to travel the country! Most of the conferences and events that you will attend will be held within your own state, but if you qualify to attend the National Leadership Conference, then you will have the chance to travel and compete in the city that it is held in! NLC 2016 will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. Other travel opportunities can be made available through your FBLA advisor. A travel opportunity that I have been given the option of taking this year is to go to New York with my advisor and my fellow chapter members.
5. Service
You will have so many chances to serve your community in FBLA! Service is a pillar of this organization. A lot of the projects that FBLA undertakes are focused on service to the community as well as to national service projects. FBLA partners with many service programs including the March of Dimes. You will also be able to take charge of a local service project if that is something that you would like to do.
6. Collaboration
FBLA is full of teens with brilliant ideas, and the drive to accomplish their goals. Here you will be able to join together and who knows what you will be able to accomplish? Some of the best and the brightest in your school will unite in this business club. You will be able to bounce ideas off of each other, and who knows what you may accomplish! The possibilities are limitless.
7. Awards & Recognition
As you participate and excel in FBLA, there are so many awards that are available. Working with your chapter, you can receive multiple chapter awards depending on the level of involvement that your chapter has with your community. There are also individual awards based on your personal community service, your personal participation in leadership developement programs, your success in recruiting members, and much more. It will take some hard work and dedication, but all of these are within your grasp.
8. Confidence
Through the business classes that you take, and the competitions that you participate in, you will be able to grow and learn about yourself. As you gain valuable skills and strengthen your leadership qualities, you will come to better know yourself. Any career path that you go down will benefit from your background in business. The character that you develop through FBLA will be priceless on your path to success.
9. Knowledge of Appropriate Business Attire
Participating in FBLA events and competitions will give you the chance to take your business outfits for a spin. Your personal style is incredibly important to the impression that you will make on people. Knowing the do's and don't's of business dress will be extremely valuable to you throughout your life and professional career. Never underestimate the value of a good outfit that makes you feel confident and in charge. Dress for success.
10. Springboard for Success
FBLA will provide you with the business experience that you need to succeed! Business is everywhere, and involved in everything. Having a background in business will greatly benefit your future. Interested in fashion as well as business? Fashion merchandising/Sales and Marketing are where design and business intersect! Ultimately, designers will always need to get their product to the market. Business is interwoven in absolutely everything. I can't stress that enough.
Becoming a member of the Future Business Leaders of America is something that you will never regret doing. The benefits and rewards are certainly not limited to these 10 reasons for joining.
